On the 20th of October, to commemorate the European Language Day, our class took part in 2 short activities.
The first one was about Dun Karm Psaila, who was amongst the first Maltese people who started to write in Maltese. He showed us his love to his native language and he is a good example for us. All the children brought someinformation about him and also pictures of him. They had 1 week time to search for the information from the Internet and from the library. Then a chart was presented with the information collected. Also 3 students read a poem ‘Għaliex?’ written by Dun Karm, which clearly shows how much he loved the Maltese language. In this poem he tells us that there’s nothing wrong if we learn and use foreign languages but we must never abandon our own language.
For the second activity, 2 twin students, who last summer visited Austria, one of the European countries, wrote some sentences about their visit to this country and also did a chart with photos taken during their visit. One of the twins read his sentences to the rest of the class.
The following photos show the students taking part in the mentioned 2 activities.
